VULNERABILITY SUMMARY
Potential vulnerabilities have been identified with Samba provided with HP
Internet Express for Tru64 UNIX (IX) v 6.6. The potential vulnerabilities
could be exploited by a remote, unauthenticated user to execute arbitrary
commands or by a local, unauthorized user to gain privilege elevation.

HP Internet Express for Tru64 UNIX (IX) v 6.6 running Samba v 3.0.23

BACKGROUND


RESOLUTION
Until the update is available in the mainstream product release, HP is
releasing the following setld-based Samba kit publicly for use by any
customer.

The resolutions contained in the Samba kit are targeted for availability in
the following mainstream product release:

HP Internet Express for Tru64 UNIX v 6.7

The kit distributes the following:

Samba v 3.0.25
Samba sources and license agreement

HP Internet Express for Tru64 UNIX - Samba 3.0.25

HISTORY
Version:1 (rev.1) - 27 June 2007 Initial release. This is a replacement for
Security Bulletin HPSBTU02218 (Document ID: c01078980) that is otherwise
identical in order to avoid a possible identification conflict with a
different Security Bulletin.
