Freedom of information
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) came into force 1 January 2005, and allows members of the public to request access to information held by certain public authorities.
In legal terms, CPNI is accountable to the Director General of the Security Service (MI5) and therefore operates under the Security Service Acts 1989 and 1996. CPNI is not subject to FOIA and therefore will not process FOIA requests.
For further information on FOIA please refer to the Department for Constitutional Affairs website.
